Damir Dzumhur, who faced Novak Djokovic in the first round of the US Open and his coach Petar Popovic will sue Roland Garros after the Bosnian tennis player was excluded from qualifying due to a positive coronavirus from his coach. Popovic underwent a second test in Serbia and the result was negative.
Dzumhur, who became 23rd in the world in 2018, suspected a false positive because his coach had Covid-19 in July and requested a second test from the French Tennis Federation, which denied the possibility. In Belgrade, Popovic took the second test and it was negative. “It is a scandal and a great frustration. Sure we will win in the courts, but it hurts a lot. They will pay dearly. This drives me crazy,” said the Bosnian tennis player according to L’Equipe.
