The pilots of the Formula 1 have a week off, before Eifel Grand Prix, in Nurburgring. This is why they take advantage of the ‘mini vacations’ to be able to rest before the weekend. However, the one who took the opportunity to get into another car was Valtteri Bottas. The Finn tested a prototype of a new category, in which a figure is already confirmed, as a team owner.
This Saturday, the driver of the team Mercedes shared a series of images in which he is seen at the controls of an all-terrain vehicle of the new electric category: Extreme E. Bottas conducted a test drive with a car outside Toulouse, France. However, he didn’t do it with his teammate’s cars, Lewis hamilton, who will own one of the structures in the category.
The passion of Bottas with the Rally it is known. The Finn was present in December 2019 at a European championship event. The car he drove had things very similar to one of the World Rally Championship (WRC), and won the victory over an experienced competitor of these modalities, such as Dani sordo.
What is Extreme E?
Extreme E is a new category promoted by the Spanish businessman Alexander Agag, CEO of the Formula E. It is a competition completely integrated by all-terrain, electric cars. This caught the attention of Lewis hamilton, who is a great activist for the development and conservation of the environment.
In addition, it was confirmed that it will be run in places where climate change has had consequences for flora and fauna. The tests will not be televised, but the winners will be known once the championship is over, through a documentary. The pilots have signed a confidentiality agreement, so nothing will be known about the disputed tests.
