After so many weeks of waiting, rumors and uncertainty, this Monday, on the last day of the transfer period in European football, Edinson Cavani found his new club: Manchester United.
The powerful English team announced the hiring of the Salta striker for one year with the option of extending it one more. Cavani was free of action since June this year, after concluding his contract with Paris Saint-Germain and will once again be part of a squad in one of the most important leagues in the world.
It will be the Uruguayan’s first experience in the Premier League, after having been a scorer in Italy and France. Cavani follows in the footsteps of Diego Forlán, who played for the Red Devils between the 2001-2002 and 2004-2005 seasons. The last Uruguayan to play for Manchester United was Guillermo Varela, who went from Peñarol to the Mancuniano team in June 2013, played in the youth divisions and even played some games in the first team.
At the same time, the confirmation of the transfer of Facundo Pellistri from Peñarol to the Manchester team is also awaited, so that the Uruguayans become two in the ranks of the Red Devils.
