Lionel Messi's visits to La Bombonera

Lionel Messi will play at the Boca stadium once again with the Argentina National Team shirt for the first date of the South American Qualifiers Heading for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Argentine captain will have a new experience in The Bombonera and it will be the fourth time that Leo enters the mythical Boca stadium to play one game and the second officially.

His first time was in December 2005, when he was still a great promise in Barcelona and he played a meeting of the Pupi Foundation, led by Javier Zanetti, where he shared a team with none other than Diego Maradona in the event “On the court with a smile”.

his official debut on the La Bombonera lawn was the October 5, 2017, in the 0-0 draw between Argentina and Peru, for the Qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

In that meeting, Argentina sought victory by all means but ran into a wall called Pedro Gallese, who was finished off 22 times without being able to beat him.

For this match, the Boca fans received the captain with a huge flag that had the legend: “Messi, the greatest in the world: Welcome to La Bombonera”.

With the objective accomplished and qualification for Russia 2018, Argentina and Messi returned to play in La Bombonera on May 29, 2018, with a 4-0 win over Haiti, in the farewell meeting of the Argentine public team.

This match had absolute albiceleste dominance and a stellar performance by Leo, who scored the team’s first three goals and then Sergio Agüero completed the task.

After these meetings and in repeated interviews, Messi expressed his feelings of having played in this stadium.

“Playing at La Bombonera was beautiful, it was spectacular”Leo pointed out in different statements.

Also, for the match against Haiti, his sons Thiago and Mateo went to the court for the first time and they lived it as a great experience: “They had a great time and when they got home they continued singing the songs.”

This time it will be a little different and special, since against Ecuador there will be no public for precautions due to the pandemic, but it will be the fourth time that Messi steps on the La Bombonera lawn.
