The Friday day of the Formula 1 it was black in all respects. The first round of free practice was suspended due to the extensive fog and heavy rain that were present on the circuit Nürburgring. The German circuit was in the worst conditions to run and the pit lane was closed because conditions did not seem to improve.
Due to the thick fog that settled in the circuit, the medical helicopter of the category could not take off and this is more than enough factor to delay the start of the timed test. In the first instance, postponements of half an hour each were made, to try to see if the panorama looked better, however it did not happen.
At dawn in Latin America it was expected that Mick schumacher made his debut in the top flight. However, with the suspension of the opening day, the German’s dream will have to wait. According to some leaders of Alfa Romeo, Schumacher will be part of a session in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the last of the 2020 season.
In the second session, the weather looked worse and worse and five minutes before the pit lane lights came on, the race direction determined that the cars would have to wait half an hour to get out. As time progressed, the rain was stronger and it was finally decided to suspend the entire day on Friday. This results in drivers reaching qualifying with only one practice session on top (if carried forward).
In the event that the weather allows the classification to take place, it will be done starting at 10:00 AM in Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Montevideo and Asunción. In La Paz and Caracas it will be at 09.00 AM. Finally, in Quito, Lima, Mexico City and Bogotá the test will begin at 08.00 AM.
