Clemente Rodríguez, the winger who currently plays for Deportivo Merlo and is a close friend of Juan Román Riquelme, spoke about his future and did not hide his desire to retire with the Boca Juniors shirt: “Would be a dream”.
In dialogue with 90 Minutes of Soccer, Clemente noted: “I always want to go back to Boca, I want to retire in the best way of my career. If I have to go it will not be for money, but because I want to retire with the Boca shirt“.
“Boca is something else, it’s another world. I really enjoyed playing there, I always tried to do things right”, He added wistfully when asked about his time at Xeneize.
“My departure in Boca was not in the best way, they are things of the past and you learn. I cannot blame him for anything because they gave me everything”, He highlighted when remembering his departure from the Ribera club in 2013.
Rodríguez, a close friend of Román, played in Boca in three cycles. The first between 200 and 2004, then in 2007 and the last in 2010-2013 and he was asked if he spoke with Román about a new return: “We spoke with Roman as friends, but not on the subject of returning to Boca. We have to give this time, now I need to play again, go back to the ring and then it will be seen”.
The experienced player also recognized Colombian Fabra for his performances in the blue and gold jersey and praised him: “I admire him and it makes me happy that he is in Boca”.
“As a boy I dreamed of debuting in First, then I fulfilled everything. Hopefully I can retire in Boca, I have to do things well at Deportivo Merlo and then there is some good news”, Underlined the 39-year-old winger who won four local tournaments with Boca, three Copa Libertadores de América 2001, 2003 and 2007 plus the 2003 Intercontinental Cup.
He also praised Carlos Tevez: “We know what Carlitos means to Boca, more at this level. The other time I saw it very well and it makes me happy. He knows very well what Boca is and I hope he gives the club much more”.
While when asked about a possible clash between River and Boca in CONMEBOL Libertadores he explained: “I think Boca is fine, against River it is a separate classic and can beat it. He has a team and good players to stay with the victory”.
On his current physical condition at Deportivo Merlo he said: “I am 39 years old and I feel good. I train with smaller players and I am on a par with everyone, the teacher makes me run with them because they look good on me”.
