In the return to rugby after more than a year, Los Pumas beat Australia XV by 19-15, and in this way they began their stay in oceanic lands on the right foot. With tries by Joaquín Oviedo, Santiago Carreras and Francisco Gorrissen, plus two conversions of Domingo Miotti, those led by Mario Ledesma they took a victory for Manly, awaiting the assembly with the European players.
Statement from Mario Ledesma – Head Coach
“There are things to lean on and keep improving. The result is good. All the boys had difficult roles to fulfill and they all performed better than expected.”
“We feel privileged to be here and we do this for everyone who is in Buenos Aires having a difficult time. Meeting with those who are in the bubble and came from Europe will be a very nice moment for everyone.”
The Los Pumas head coach spoke with Scrum and, although he said that “they were supposedly going to play against a Waratahs team” and found “an Australia A”, he maintained that it was a motivation for the players.
Tomás Cubelli – Captain of Los Pumas today
“We weren’t able to finish at the beginning. We created a lot of opportunities and that didn’t affect the entire team because we kept trying until the end. I was also left with defending the result, which is something important.”
“Begin to have the first sensations, real contact situations. Something more similar to what we are going to find in the Tri Nations. It makes me very happy that players who come from youth teams, from clubs and from Argentina XV, arrive here and be comfortable to play these games. “
The Pumas will do regenerative work on Saturday and will have off on Sunday. For his part, next Monday, the National Team will move to the center of Sydney,
