The RFU files charges against 13 Barbarian FC players They will appear before an independent disciplinary panel online. The panel will be chaired by Philip Evans QC as the players are accused of conduct detrimental to the interests of the Union or the Game, contrary to Rule 5.12 of the RFU.
Players will face a variety of charges including:
– Individual breaches of protocols (for example, leaving the hotel without permission or without informing the organizers of your whereabouts)
– Provide false statements during an investigation
The RFU recognizes the pressure that public scrutiny places on players and will therefore publish the names of the players, the full trials and the penalties after the hearings are concluded.
There is no table of sanctions applicable to charges filed under Rule 5.12, therefore, the Independent Panel may issue a number of sanctions at its discretion, including fines and / or match bans and / or any other appropriate sanctions.
