Diego Maradona’s lawyer, Matías Morla, affirmed this Wednesday that “the last medical part was excellent”, after the Argentine ex-footballer was successfully operated on Tuesday for a subdural hematoma that was detected during a check-up.
Maradona, who turned 60 on Friday, was admitted this Monday for anemia, dehydration and a “low mood”
“Diego had presented a picture of depression (…). At first the graduate (psychologist) linked it to the issue of birthday, to the depression product of the pandemic and different circumstances that were surrounding him. The picture progressed, the hospitalization was made and the study that ended with the intervention jumped, “said the lawyer before the media at his entrance to the private clinic in the province of Buenos Aires where he is hospitalized.
Morla added that the former soccer player “had a strange behavior, he was very depressed, he had comments about relatives who had died, that he missed them.”
“He always, on every birthday, suffers a kind of nostalgia. He misses his mother a lot, this is always the same with the issue of birthdays, but this year it increased, that’s why I’m here with the psychologist who had intervened” , valued.
Likewise He stressed that Maradona could continue with his work as coach of Gymnastics and Fencing La Plata, since “the cognitive part was never affected”, although this activity “is in the background”.
On his recovery, Morla affirmed that he will carry it out in Argentina, after being questioned about other options such as Cuba and Venezuela.
“Diego loves Cuba. Yesterday (Tuesday) I spoke with Antonio Castro, Fidel’s son. Both Venezuela and Cuba are friendly countries for Diego to be there, but Diego is with his head in gymnastics,” he said.
