After the Grand Prix of Imola, and after each race, Ross Brawn published his column on the official site of the Formula 1. In it, he usually shares his views of the disputed tests and the performance of the different drivers. This Tuesday, Brawn highlighted the work done by Daniel Ricciardo. The Australian earned his second podium of the season for Renault in the circuit Enzo and Dino Ferrari.
Daniel Ricciardo will leave the Renault team at the end of the season to move to Mclaren. Instead of Ricciardo, he will arrive Fernando Alonso, which is already working side by side with the French structure. Ricciardo, will occupy the vacant place of Carlos Sainz that reaches Ferrari in the worst moment of the Maranello team.
Brawn highlighted Ricciardo’s work at Imola and left a reflection for the future of the category. «Daniel Ricciardo is a brilliant driver and one of the best in Formula 1. His drive to get another podium was very impressive. If i was in Mercedes, I have no doubt that he would take victories, poles and fight for the World Championship, “says Brawn.
After two seasons with the French team, Ricciardo will move to McLaren. However, the decision to have Alonso replace him does not seem like a bad decision. Brawn thinks that perhaps the movement could have been another. “He is doing a fantastic job at the moment and Renault will be sad to lose him, even if Fernando Alonso is the man to replace him.”
To end his column, Brawn says he hopes McLaren will live up to the performance the Australian is having this season. “I hope McLaren can give Daniel the car he deserves next season. He is a great member of the Formula 1 family, ”the former Ferrari team boss concluded.
