The Ireland coach, Andy Farrell, named three new players in the 34-man team that will face the Fall Nations Cup of this year. The Clover team will be captained for the veteran opening Johnny sexton and features players looking for their green jersey debut like wing Leinster James lowe, the opening of Ulster Billy burns and the multifunctional Munster back Shane Daly.
Lowe, 28, who was born in Nelson, New Zealand, has a chance to represent Ireland as plays for Leinster since 2017. The World Rugby rule states that to wear the shirt of another team you must have a three-year residence in the country you are going to play. That rule was extended to five years, but Lowe came to Ireland when the three-year protocol existed. The back, who can be a wing or fullback, has his origin in Tasman from 2012 to 2017 and also in the Chiefs from 2014 until he joined the European team. Between 2014 and 2017 he also played 4 matches for the Maori All Blacks.
The group of Irish coaches will reconvene the team on Thursday at the Irish Union High Performance Center in West Dublin. The Clubs will play Wales at their home on Friday November 13 and then travel to London to play England at Twickenham on Saturday November 21. The following Sunday, Ireland host Georgia at Aviva Stadium.
