José Mourinho, Tottenham Hotspur coach, criticized the form of Argentine Giovani Lo Celso, despite the good performance of the midfielder against Ludogorets.
The Argentine scored a goal in the 1-3 win in Bulgarian soil, allowing the Londoners to bounce back from the defeat in Antwerp.
However, this did not quite convince a Mourinho who criticized the player’s physical condition.
“He was good with the ball and not too good without it. His physical condition is not good. He has not had preseason,” Mourinho said at a press conference.
“Both during confinement and during the season, he had problems and did not train like the rest of his teammates, so his preparation has had many ups and downs. He is progressing little by little,” he added.
This Thursday, Lo Celso played 71 minutes, the most since last September 27, when he played 76 against Newcastle United.
“It gives me the feeling that he is not yet the Gio we know. With the ball he has great criteria and knows what to do, but we need more intensity to be stronger in the transitions,” said Mourinho.
