Sebastián Ferreira, the main novelty in Berizzo's Paraguay

The goal scorer of Libertad, Sebastián Ferreira, is one of the main novelties of the list of 30 players presented this Friday by the Paraguay coach, Eduardo Berizzo, for next week’s matches against Argentina and Bolivia of the South American Qualifiers to Qatar 2022.

Berizzo’s list is made up of 11 players from the national league teams plus 19 from the foreign competitions that the Argentine called a week ago.

Other novelties among those mentioned from local teams are the defense of Cerro Porteño Santiago Arzamendia, which was low due to covid-19 in the matches of the previous round against Peru and Venezuela, and Olimpia goalkeeper Alfredo Aguilar.

As in those duels, Berizzo has once again resorted to the attack, from the options of the national players, to Raúl Bobadilla, from Guaraní, in a forward duo with Ferreira, who was the top scorer in the last Apertura tournament, with 13 goals.

The list of foreigners was at 19 this Tuesday when La Albirroja announced the casualties of goalkeepers Roberto Junior Fernández, from Brazilian Botafogo, and Gerardo Ortiz, from Colombian Once Caldas, as well as Argentine Racing striker Lorenzo Melgarejo.

Melgarejo’s replacement, announced that day, is Braian Samudio, from Turkish Rizespor.

The goalkeepers that appear on the list presented this Friday are, in addition to Aguilar, Anthony Silva, who has already played against Venezuela, and the young goalkeeper of Cerro Porteño Miguel Martínez, 21 years old.

Paraguay will face Argentina on November 12 as a visitor and five days later they will host Bolivia in Asunción.

La Albirroja, who has not qualified for a World Cup event since South Africa 2010, will face those matches after drawing in the previous round with Peru 2-2 and defeating Venezuela 0-1.
