Return with celebration. After his magical passage through Roland Garros, where he reached the semifinals, Nadia Podoroska, Argentina’s No. 1, officially returned to the WTA circuit and did so with a doubles victory in the tournament Linz WTA, in Austria.
In that competition on a hard court and indoors, Podoroska celebrated in duo with the Romanian Iirina-Camelia Begu: defeated the kazakh Ana Danilina and the french Elixane Lechemia by 6-4 and 6-4.
Meanwhile, Podoroska, 48th in the world in the individual rankings, is ranked sixth seeded in Liz and will face Begu (76th) on Wednesday.
If she wins, Argentina, who has just played her first Roland Garros and wrote history by climbing to the semifinals, will face the Italian Camila Giorgi (75th) or the Spanish Sara Sorribes Tormo (85th) in the round of 16 on Thursday.
In this tournament, Podoroska debuts her best position in the WTA world rankings, since she settled in the Top 50 after passing through the Paris clay.
