Nicolás de la Cruz spoke with Universal Radio 970 AM and he commented on his adaptation to River and Argentine football and explained what he thinks is the secret of Marcelo Gallardo’s success at the head of his squad.
It was difficult for the Uruguayan to adapt to Argentine football but he has managed to transform himself into a fundamental piece in the team led by Marcelo Gallardo. “I changed a lot because Argentine soccer and the level of the club is a very high demand, the River world is very difficult to cope with, the adaptation time I had was quite long, luckily it has passed and today I can enjoy the club ”, commented the player trained in Liverpool from Uruguay.
The footballer added: “The player who leaves Uruguayan soccer later encounters another reality, with another soccer and you have to reinvent yourself, Obviously, what capacity most of us have, for something they want us from the outside. Uruguay produces very good players, with great capacity; then it is in the attitudes and in the desire to progress of each one, to get ahead ”.
“It was difficult for me at first, then I was able to accommodate and connect to the River world and then I began to enjoy what a great institution is worldwide”, appreciated the attacking midfielder.
De la Cruz commented on the continuous demand of coach Gallardo and the repeated successes of the Millionaire team: “What happens is that the messages are very clear at the beginning of the year, the objectives are specific and clear; all the time we try not to blur, to keep winning, it is the coach’s mentality, it is the message that goes down: to continue along that line and the ambition to always win and not to change the forms and style of play beyond the losses we suffer in every beginning of the year ”.
