Javier Mascherano announced at a press conference his retirement from professional soccer in Estudiantes de La Plata. The ‘Jefecito’ did it after his team fell to Argentinos Juniors by the minimum in the Professional League Cup.
“I want to announce that today I am retiring from soccer professionally, I want to thank this club that gave me the opportunity to finish my career in Argentina,” Mascherano told the media virtually.
“I felt that after being stopped by the pandemic I could return, but I could not do it. I could not recover in football and out of respect, I think it is time to step aside,” said the “Little Boss.”
“I am also infinitely grateful to all the teammates and coaches I had throughout my career. Many times the end is not the one you choose and they only end up,” said the flyer at the press conference.
