FIFA asks for a minute of silence for Diego Armando Maradona in all weekend matches

MADRID – The FIFA on Friday asked its 211 member federations to ask the organizers of the competitions to observe a minute of silence in all the football matches of the weekend to pay tribute to Diego Aramando Maradona.

The highest world football organization wants to express in this way its consideration for the former Argentine footballer, who died last Wednesday in his country, and who could receive a planetary tribute in each of the games that are played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday .

The body chaired by Gianni Infantino reported on his request through an official statement and described Maradona as “one of the greatest football icons of all time.”
