Lanús vs. Bolívar - Match Report - December 2, 2020

(EFE) – Lanús advanced to the quarterfinals of the Copa Sudamericana after beating Bolívar 6-2, a result that transformed an adverse series for the Argentine team, which in the first leg fell 2-1.

Two goals from Franco Orozco and Tomás Belmonte plus one from Lautaro Acosta and another from Nicolás Orsini were worth the Argentine team to prevail at home against a rival who had taken the lead after 4 minutes with a goal from Marcos Riquelme. Meanwhile, Álvaro Rey scored the other goal for the visitors.

Lanús awaits in the quarterfinals the best of the series between another Argentine team, Independiente, and the Uruguayan Fénix. The Rojo de Avellaneda already won in Montevideo 4-1.

At the beginning of the match, Bolívar surprised his rival and expanded the difference he had made in La Paz with a great individual play in minute 4 by Marcos Riquelme that beat Alexis Pérez and then finished with a hole before the departure of goalkeeper Lautaro Morales.

Lanús did not despair and in the 26th minute he reached equality with Bernabei’s arrival at the bottom and a center back that almost ended in an own goal but goalkeeper Javier Rojas managed to clear to leave the goal served to Franco Orozco.

With that same mental impulse, in the 39th minute he found a ball on the edge of the area to take a cross shot that left Rojas without reaction and put the ‘Garnet’ leveling the series.

At the start of the second half, more precisely in the 48th minute, a low corner kick found Belmonte’s right-handed scorer again to put Lanús ahead for the first time in this series.

Lanús took advantage of his moment, and just five minutes later from another corner kick he found the deflection of Lautaro Acosta and the goal-scoring arrival of Franco Orozco with a header.

In the celebration of the day of the supporter of Lanús, the ‘Garnet’ went for more and in the 62nd minute a center from Brian Aguirre found an accurate header from Lautaro Acosta to put the 5-2 on the scoreboard.

The Spanish Álvaro Rey with an accurate definition arriving from the front discounted for the visit in the 72nd minute, but Nicolás Orsini with a great individual maneuver and a definition from the left to the angle in the 85th minute put the final 6-2 in favor of Lanús.

After those victories, and waiting for the definition of the series between Independiente and Fénix de Uruguay to meet their rival in the quarterfinals of the Copa Sudamericana, this weekend Lanús will go in search of the classification in the renamed local tournament ‘Diego Maradona ‘.
