The coach of the Wallabies, Dave rennierevealed who was the player on the plate that surprised you the most since he became head coach of the Australian team.
It was against the Jaguars in February when Hunter Paisami he first caught the attention of the national selectors. And since then, their heads have not stopped spinning.
Rennie, commented in an interview with The Rugby Nation, that the 22-year-old, who was told that was not “big enough” to play Super Rugby in 2018, has surprised him the most since he took over as coach of the Wallabies.
“It’s always hard to get guys out, but Hunter Paisami, we knew he had a pretty solid skill set because he kicks well, kicks with both feet, he’s generally a good distributor and we all know he takes a lot and can cut in half, but if I look back six months ago when I saw him play for the first time, Jordy Petaia was out and Hunter starts and really caught our attention in his first game.
“Aside from a really commanding voice, he has an outstanding skill set and has fitted into international rugby quite easily, hasn’t he?
“When you think of four Tests against the All Blacks, it’s a great introduction and I think it’s been really good. Other guys have been too, but since he was young, he really hasn’t come from anywhere, I think he’s been pretty impressive. “
