Vélez drew 0-0 with Patronato for the sixth date of Zone 6 of the Diego Armando Maradona Cup and was relegated to the Complementary Phase of the competition for having less goal difference than Gimnasia de La Plata.
In the first half they shared the possession of the ball, but it was Vélez who made the most of the moments in which he dominated. Pellegrino’s men created many chances to open the scoring against the locals, but the players failed at the time of definition.
In the second half, the trend continued with the visitor proposing and Patronato waiting behind to come out of the counterattack. Despite once again having several scoring opportunities, Vélez could not achieve them and could even have lost the match due to the attacks from the premises.
The result left the Liniers team with nine points, but with less goal difference than Gimnasia de La Plata, so they will play the Complementary Phase. While Patronato only added two points in Zone 6 and finished last.
