Lanús vs. Independent - Party Report - December 10, 2020

(EFE) – Lanús and Independiente drew goalless in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa Sudamericana played at the Néstor Díaz Pérez stadium in Buenos Aires.

Independiente, winner of the 2010 and 2017 editions, had reached this stage by eliminating the Uruguayan Fénix with a 5-1 aggregate and, after this tie, he managed to extend his undefeated series to 13 games.

Lanús, champion in 2013, while he had acceded to this instance after beating Bolivian Bolivar by a 7-4 aggregate.

The meeting was marked by casualties in both teams. Leonel Di Plácido and Nicolás Orsini were unable to perform at the venue due to injuries, while Alan Franco and captain Silvio Romero were unable to play at Red.

The hot day in Buenos Aires affected the performance of the two teams, who showed two different styles of play: while the local bet on a vertical game, the visitors opted for the leisurely movement of the ball without running over the goal defended by Lautaro Morales .

The best possibility of this first stage was a combination of Pedro De la Vega and José Sand that he could not define against the Uruguayan goalkeeper Sebastián Sosa, who responded with great solvency.

On the side of Independiente, the clearest was through a shot by Federico Martínez and a cross shot that the youthful Nicolás Messiniti did not capitalize on.

Before the break Fabricio Bustos had an opportunity to visit but his shot ended in a corner kick, while at the end a combination of Alan Velasco and Lucas Rodríguez demanded a reaction from Brian Aguirre to avoid the fall of the ‘garnet’ goal.

At the beginning of the complement, Alan Velasco found Messiniti again whose shot found a great reaction from Lautaro Morales who took the ball from the corner kick.

In the 83rd minute Tomás Belmonte took a shot that went close to Sosa’s left post, while in the final minute the entered Alan So Señora was hand in hand with Morales but his shot went near the right post to decree the goalless draw .

The rematch will be on Thursday 17 at the Libertadores de América stadium, in the province of Buenos Aires, and the winner will face the Argentine Velez Sarsfield or the Universidad Católica de Chile, who won 2-1 in the first leg.
