(EFE) – Liverpool missed this Sunday the opportunity to become leader of the Premier League by drawing one in an unexpected way against Fulham.
The ‘Reds’ did not take advantage of the punctures of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, and could only match their result in a tough game from which they managed to rescue the tie in the final minutes thanks to a penalty transformed by Mohamed Salah.
On their visit to London, the reigning champions fell asleep and Fulham had plenty of chances to make it 2-0 or 3-0 on the scoreboard.
Alisson Becker, already recovered from the physical problems that had separated him from the team in recent days, supported Liverpool, but could not do anything at 1-0, a great shot by Bobby Reid from inside the area.
Liverpool needed that jug of cold water to wake up, but Fulham, well behind, knew how to hold on and the ‘Reds’ did not materialize their chances.
Mohamed Salah, on the turn, had one of the clearest shots, but sent it brushing the post, and Jordan Henderson, in a heads up, met Areola.
It had to be from the penalty spot where Liverpool managed to tie. A free kick taken by Georginio Wijnaldum in the front of the area crashed into the hand of a Fulham player and the referee charged the maximum penalty.
Salah, risking by throwing him into the center, slipped it under Areola and Liverpool drew a suffered draw against Fulham that can end the day in the relegation zone if Burnley beat Arsenal.
Liverpool, meanwhile, is left with 25 points, the same as Tottenham, which this Sunday did not go beyond the draw against Crystal Palace.
