Facundo Campazzo, former Real Madrid player and currently with an NBA presence in Denver Nugget, is among the candidates for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) trophy of the decade in the Spanish league basketball.
The final choice will be made by the fans through a vote on social media, starting next Thursday. A jury of experts selected the 16 candidates who will compete for the trophy, taking into account “the performance and individual accolades achieved, but also the contribution and influence of each in the achievement of the titles of their teams and basketball”, informs the ACB.
The jury chose the 16 finalists and subsequently identified the eight who they will start as seeded: Jaycee Carroll, Bojan Dubljevic, Rudy Fernández, Sergio Llull, Nikola Mirotic, Juan Carlos Navarro, Felipe Reyes and Sergio Rodríguez. The other candidates are Campazzo, Doncic, Marcelinho Huertas, Fernando San Emeterio, Tornike Shengelia, Edy Tavares, Ante Tomic and Fran Vázquez.
These 16 players will face each other in daily voting that will take place on the official profile of the acb on Twitter (@ACBCOM). Voting will begin with the first of the round of 16 duels: Nikola Mirotic against Marcelinho Huertas.
The other duels are Rudy-Campazzo (January 8), Carroll-Shengelia (11), Navarro-Tomic (12), Sergio Rodríguez-Doncic (13), Felipe Reyes-Fran Vázquez (14), Dubljevic-Tavares (15) and Llull-San Emeterio (18).
The winners of the round of 16 will meet in the quarterfinals, from January 19 to 22, with the players located on the same side of the table. The procedure will continue with the semifinals (25 and 26) and the grand final, on January 28, which will designate the MVP of the decade.
