Gorosito: "At some point I'm going to go back to San Lorenzo"

The Argentine Néstor Gorosito resumed the bench of Olimpia de Paraguay on Wednesday, denying a possible incorporation to San Lorenzo of his country, as some media assumed, although he assured that at some point he will return to the Barça team, of which he was a player and coach.

“I have a contract with the club (Olimpia) (and) I am completely clear that at some point I will return to San Lorenzo. I don’t know, it will be ten years, twenty years, three days, forty days …“Gorosito said at a press conference after returning from Buenos Aires on Tuesday.

The coach declared himself very identified with the Almagro team and I consider it normal that every time there is a change of coach in that team, he is mentioned among the probable candidates due to his “roots and love for the club.”

“For a logical reason and I have stated a lot of times that I would like to return to the club at some point and every time that happens (change of helm) my name comes up. It has already happened to me the last four times while I was in Tigre, in different teams, “he said at the Olympia headquarters offices.

Gorosito, who returned to Asunción on Tuesday after a brief rest period amid reports that he was the strongest candidate to replace Mariano Soso, reiterated that he has a contract until the end of the year with Olimpia and that everything is in place for this Thursday start the preseason.

With Gorosito, Olimpia was proclaimed champion of the Apertura on December 30 after defeating Guaraní on penalties (5-4) after the final match ended tied with two goals during the 90 minutes.

Since his arrival, last November, and after the eight games that preceded the final, he was constantly questioned on social networks and a sector of the board for the performance of the “King of Cups”, something that the coach attributed to lack of weather.

In this regard, Gorosito reaffirmed that he never experienced a situation, so before working “let us be judged”, considering that social networks “are more important for the exterior than for the interior.”

“It was completely unfair that without working, we played a game and we were criticized at all costs, at no time did we say anything, we continued working (…) and luckily we paid the Olympia fan more than anything,” he said.

Gorosito excused himself from offering details about the procedures that are being carried out for possible hires or the demarcation that he seeks to reinforce out of respect for his players “who supported us in difficult times.”

He affirmed that this responsibility falls on the sports director, also Argentine Cristián Bassedas, who at the same press conference announced that several players who were active in other clubs were called up for the preseason.

As champions of the Clausura, Olimpia will enter the group stage of the Copa Libertadores as will Cerro Porteño, winner of the Apertura, while Libertad and Guaraní will do so from the previous phases.
