The Argentine player suffered discomfort from the game played by the Catalans in Los Cármenes against Granada, where he noticed a puncture in the thigh and asked for the change.
Messi exercised on Monday with the rest of his teammates and was included in the list of summoned for the trip to Córdoba.
Barcelona hopes to be able to count on Messi in Sunday’s game at La Cartuja in Seville if they qualify this Wednesday against the Basque team.
The absence of Messi is the main novelty in the eleven of Barcelona, in which Lenglet returns for Umtiti and Araujo for Dest, to which is added the entry of Braithwaite.
At Real Sociedad, coach Imanol Alguacil has opted for an eleven made up of Álex Remiro; Gorosabel, Zubeldia, Guevara, Le Normand; Zubimendi, Guridi, Merino; Portu, Oyarzábal and Isak.
Le Normand and Guevara enter with respect to the last match of the San Sebastian team, at Sánchez Pizjuán against Sevilla (3-2).
