Days ago it was confirmed the ATP 250 of Santiago for this 2021 leaving behind the ghosts of a pandemic that has not yet ended. The organization has already started planning the tournament and among the names that began to be shuffled, the first was known from the hand of a wild card: Nicolás Jarry.
The tournament director, Catalina Fillol, announced that the 25-year-old player will have the respective invitation to play the main draw. After the sanction for doping, the Chilean is without ranking and seeks to participate in as many tournaments as possible to regain rhythm and points.
Jarry returned to the circuit in November, at the Challenger in Lima, where he fell to the Peruvian Nicolás Álvarez. Then he traveled to the Dominican Republic to play two ITF tournaments in which he also did not get a victory.
In 2020, the ATP Tour returned to Chile for the first time since 2014 when the Viña del Mar tournament was played (2001-2009, 2012-2014). The inaugural edition of the tournament was in the hands of the Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild just before the circuit was stopped by the advance of COVID-19.
