Golf in the Dominican Republic can open its doors at a recreational level and the courses located in tourist complexes or projects began operating as of this Wednesday.
In a conversation for ESPN, the president of the Dominican Golf Federation (Fedogolf), Carlos Elmúdesi, said that a few days ago the situation of their sport was not very clear but they were finally able to open the fields after the sports authorities allowed it.
“Everything is clarified, but it was a complex issue because in golf you have clubs with golf courses that do not have hotel rooms, you have the hotel that has a golf course, clubs with other sports fields. Even though we announced a protocol for each area, they wouldn’t let us open it, ”he explained.
Elmúdesi explained that the opening of golf will help the tourism industry because they open the fields for recreational practice throughout the country. The federation athletes, who make up the national team, remain awaiting the authorization of official competitions.
“This Thursday we began to play on the fields with the proper protocol, which was approved by the authorities,” said the president of Fedogolf.
