West Bromwich Albion vs. Manchester City - Game Report - January 26, 2021

(EFE) – Manchester City was exhibited against West Bromwich Albion, won 5-0 on the road and will sleep leader of the Premier League with a point of advantage over Manchester United, its classic rival.

The Sky Blues completed one of the best games of the season to pass over a West Brom that is more than a clear candidate for relegation this season.

In a choral performance and in which Pep Guardiola did not need a ‘nine’ from the start -Sergio Agüero tested positive for COVID-, City overwhelmed their rival with a stratospheric first half commanded by a great Ilkay Gundogan.

The German opened the scoring with a left-handed shot and made the third dribbling inside the area and adjusting the ball to a post.

Earlier, Joao Cancelo scored the controversial goal of the night, since the play was signaled offside, but the linesman raised the flag and some West Brom players were left standing.

That did not prevent Cancelo from putting the ball in a squad, the referee sent a review of the play, the VAR detected that there was no illegal position and the goal went up to the scoreboard.

To close the perfect first half, Ryad Mahrez scored a “Robben-style” goal and left the crash more than sentenced.

Already in the second 45 minutes, Raheem Sterling joined the party closing a win that prolongs the good moment of a City that adds eleven wins in a row.

Those of Guardiola will sleep leaders of the Premier while waiting for what Manchester United does, with which they have a point advantage, although the same games played.

For its part, West Brom is second to last with 11 points, six from salvation.
