Marcelo Rodríguez, profile of the first Argentine president of SANZAAR

In a statement, SANZAAR confirmed that Marcelo Rodríguez became the new president of the entity, which links New Zealand, South Africa, Australia and Argentina.

The man from San Juan will replace New Zealander Brent Impey, who resigned on December 31 last year, after being in charge for five years. Rodríguez, a former center of the National University of San Juan, extended his career as a player until he was 39 years old and then he dedicated himself to leadership in the world of rugby.

The Argentine has been a member of the UAR Board of Directors since 2012, as for example in the Supervisory Committee, until in March 2018 he became the president of the Argentine Rugby Union, replacing Carlos Araujo.

Previously, Rodríguez was the top leader of South America Rugby, a position in which he started in 2016, a member of the World Rugby Council, and also a member of the Board of Jaguares, in the glory stage of the Argentine franchise.
