Bologna vs. AC Milan - Match Report - January 30, 2021

Milan achieved this Saturday a hard-fought 2-1 victory in the Bologna field, despite the Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic missing a penalty, and sealed his leadership in the Italian Serie A, which reaches the twentieth day.

After the 0-3 suffered against Atalanta and the Cup elimination suffered against Inter Milan, Stefano Pioli’s Milan conquered the Renato Dall’Ara stadium with goals from the Croatian Ante Rebic and the Ivorian Frank Kessie, from a penalty.

Stefano Pioli’s team needed a great performance from the goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, decisive with a series of worthwhile saves in the first half, with the 1-0 in favor of Milan, and in the second, when Bologna pressed with everything in search of the tie.

The Milanese advantage came from a penalty scored by the Portuguese Rafael Leao. Ibrahimovic missed the maximum penalty, repelled by goalkeeper Lukas Skorupski, but Rebic arrived first in the rebound and gave his team an advantage.

After some great saves by Donnarumma, including a shot by Argentine Nicolás Domínguez, Milan extended distances again thanks to a maximum penalty. This time, Ibrahimovic conceded it to Kessie and he transformed it with a central shot that surprised Skorupski.

The Pioli team did not sentence the duel definitively and Bologna took advantage of it to close the gap thanks to Andrea Poli, former Milan (m.81), which forced the “rossoneri” to suffer a lot in the final stretch to take all three points.

The victory allowed Milan to shield the lead and momentarily place themselves five points behind Inter, second, which receives Benevento this Saturday.
