The Professional League Cup was drawn and there is a date for the Superclásico

The draw was made for the new Professional Soccer League Cup and the date for the Superclásico between River and Boca was announced.

The 26 teams were divided into two groups of 13 teams and thus were formed:

Zone A: Aldosivi, Argentinos, Arsenal, Banfield, Central Córdoba, Colón, Estudiantes, Godoy Cruz, Platense, Racing, River, Rosario Central and San Lorenzo.

Zone B: Atlético Tucumán, Boca, Defense and Justice, Gymnastics, Huracán, Independiente, Lanús, Newell’s, Patronato, Sarmiento, Talleres, Unión and Vélez.

12 dates will be played all against all in each zone and there will be an interzonal duel. These are the interzonal classics that will be held one by date:

River-Boca, Racing-Independiente, San Lorenzo-Huracán, Newell’s-Rosario Central, Estudiantes-Gimnasia, Colón-Unión, Lanús-Banfield, Vélez-Argentinos, Defense and Justice-Arsenal, Atlético Tucumán-Talleres, Patronato-Central Córdoba, Godoy Cruz-Aldosivi, Sarmiento-Platense.

The highlights of the fixture:

The Superclásico will be played on date 5 between Boca and River, in La Bombonera, on March 14.

San Lorenzo and Huracán will play on date 4, March 7, at the San Lorenzo court.

The Avellaneda classic between Racing and Independiente will be played on matchday 9, April 11, at the Cilindro de Avellaneda.

The La Plata classic between Estudiantes de La Plata and Gimnasia LP will be held on April 11, 18.

The Rosario classic will be on the date between Rosario Central and Newell’s, next May 2, in Arroyito, on matchday 12.

Colón and Unión will play the Santa Fe classic, on May 9, on date 13.

Banfield and Lanús will star in the classic del Sur on date 6, March 21.

Once the 13 dates are completed, the best four from each zone will advance to a sort of league, where they will be eliminated in a match on a neutral court, first vs. fourths, and second vs third. First and second in each zone will be local in the quarterfinals.

The winners will compete in the semifinal and the winner of the final will qualify for the CONMEBOL Libertadores Cup 2022. These last two phases will be played on a neutral court.
