Godoy Cruz issued a statement this Sunday about the death of the Uruguayan striker Santiago “Morro” Garcia, in which he affirms that “his drastic decision was motivated by personal problems that he had dragged on for a long time, totally unrelated to the relationship with the Institution.”
The 30-year-old striker, who was struggling with deep depression, was found dead at his home on Saturday, February 6.
“The Club professionally accompanied the beloved ‘Morro’ through its medical staff, and external professionals such as in his human face at all times. Unfortunately, no one could avoid his drastic decision”added Tomba in the statement.
The case is still ongoing and is in charge of the prosecutor Claudia Ríos, who will not give details “until the results of the scientific department are in accordance with the measures that are being carried out in the department.”
