It’s not all bad news for Felix Auger-Aliassime, who started the Murray River Open in 21st place and once he finished it climbed to 19th position, after losing to Daniel Evans in the final. But what cannot be overlooked is his huge losing streak in the ATP Finals: in seven disputed title definitions, he already has seven defeats.
At just 20 years old, one of the members of the so-called Next Gen is still unable to take the big step and win his first title. In 2020 there were three defeats: at ATP 250 in Cologne, he lost to Alexander Zverev in straight sets; in Marseille, against Tsitsipas, he lost 6-3 and 6-4, while in Rotterdam Gael Monfils beat him 6-2 and 6-4.
In 2019, the 20-year-old tennis player fell in the decisive match of Rio de Janeiro before Laslo djere by 6-3 and 7-5. Then it also happened to him the same in Lyon, by losing with Benoit paire by 6-4 and 6-3. At the close of the year, he also could not lift his first title in Stuttgart upon being defeated by Matteo berrettinni by 6-4 and 7-6 (11).
In this way, the young Canadian reaches the Australian Open (will make his debut against German Cedrik-Marcel Stebe) within the Top 20 and with a negative streak that, so far, continues to stretch.
