Schwartzman had no trouble getting through the second round

Diego Schwartzman beat Alexandre Muller 6-2, 6-0 and 6-3 without major complications in the second round of the Australian Open. The Peque was much superior to the French during the process of the meeting and made him feel at all times why he is in the N ° 9 position of the ATP ranking.

The next rival for the Argentine, leader of Latin America, will be Aslan Karatsev (# 114) who has just eliminated Egor Gerasimov 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0. The Russian, coming from qualifying, ultimately eliminated Alexandre Muller, Schwartzman’s last rival, but Schwartzman entered the main draw as a lucky looser because of the retirement of Federico Delbonis.

The Peque will play for the fourth consecutive year the third round of the Australian Open. In 2018 he was able to overcome this phase but in the second round he ran into Rafael Nadal who swept him in four sets. The following year, Diego was not as lucky to carry into the second week, as he was eliminated by Thomas Berdych.

Last year, Schwarztman also passed the third round but in the fourth he crossed paths with who would be the champion of that edition, Novak Djokovic. The Argentine can now prepare what will be his next match against Karatsev seeking to enter the best 16 of the first Grand Slam of the year.

Now the best Argentine player is at least in the third round of a Grand Slam in 10 of the last 13 he played. This confirms its increasingly solid level, installed among the best.
