Agustín Palavecino takes the last steps to be a reinforcement of River Plate and acknowledged that “he could not believe” that Gallardo called him and revealed that he asked Deportivo Cali to let him go before the interest of the Argentine giant.
Upon leaving the Rossi Clinic, where he underwent a medical examination, the midfielder told reporters present: “My words to the president of Cali were: ‘not any club is asking me, River is loving me’ and at this moment who is going to say no to River. I did the necessary strength, I am grateful to the leaders that today I am here”.
“I couldn’t believe Gallardo called me. I listened to him and I was very happy. I’m looking forward to getting to training and starting.”
On a negotiation that was stretched, Palavecino accepted: “I waited a lot for this moment. The wait from there was long. Now let’s enjoy it.”
“I had my head in playing. I know it is a very important step in my career, but trying to be calm and not be in negotiations, I left it to my representative,” he added.
Asked about his cousin Erik Lamela, who came from River’s quarry, Palavecino commented: “I did not talk to Erik about the River world. We talk when he plays, when I play and he gives me a lot of advice and I am very grateful.”
When describing himself as a footballer, the midfielder emerged in Platense said: “I identify myself as a mixed midfielder, back and forth. I try to be more offensive than defensive.”

Palavecino arrived in the country on Friday morning, from Cali, and went to the Rossi clinic in the City of Buenos Aires.
Deportivo Cali explained in a statement that “It reached an agreement with the Atlético River Plate club for the transfer of the federative rights and 35% of the economic rights of Agustín Palavecino.”
The 24-year-old Argentine had asked Deportivo Cali coach, Uruguayan Alfredo Arias, not to line him up while waiting to be transferred to a foreign team.
Palavecino traveled to Buenos Aires on Thursday night and in the next few hours will be formally linked to the eleventh millionaire from Argentina.
River paid 1.8 million for 35% of the player’s pass that emerged in Platense. According to Deportivo Cali, in December of this year River Plate “may exercise the purchase option for an additional 30% of the economic rights“.
Palavecino played 60 games with Deportivo Cali and scored 15 goals, 2 of them in this league and the last against Boyacá Chicó.
