The Argentine coach Jorge Almirón has presented his resignation tonight as Elche’s coach after his team’s defeat against Celta de Vigo 3-1 at the Balaídos stadium.
The coach, who arrived at the club last summer after being promoted, appeared in the stadium’s press room with a considerable delay and limited himself to commenting on his goodbye to the club without accepting questions.
“I have made the decision not to continue. I wish the best to the team and my players. I appreciate all the time that I have lived with them “said the coach, who sent “best wishes to those who follow.”
Almirón leaves Elche in the relegation zone and in a great sporting crisis, since the team from Elche has 16 consecutive days without winning, which equals its second worst streak ever in the category.
The coach, who relieved José Rojo ‘Pacheta’, idol of the fans and creator of two promotions, was the main bet of the main shareholder of Elche, the Argentine Christian Bragarnik, for the return of the club to First.
Almirón has not given explanations about the reasons for his departure, although in the last winter market the coach had requested the arrival of six reinforcements so that the team was competitive and finally only three players arrived.
