Josh warrington ended up with a broken jaw, a punctured eardrum and a shoulder injury in his eighth round knockout loss to the Mexican Mauricio Lara.
According to various media reports in England, where the fight took place, the former featherweight champion felt dizzy after the fight, so he was taken to a hospital for a check-up as a precaution.
There, tests were performed on his head, which were negative and without any problem, so around 4 in the morning from England he was discharged; however, his jaw ended up fractured.
Less than a month ago, Warrington warned of the punching power of Lara, which sent him to the canvas twice.
The first was in the fourth round, when a left from the Mexican opened the way that seconds later ended with Josh on the canvas after another left that landed on the chin. Although he was visibly touched, he managed to finish the assault.
Then in the ninth round, a combination of a right cross and a left hook put the Englishman in bad shape. After receiving six hits, he returned to the canvas with a left hook and the referee arrived to stop the contest immediately.
Still shocked by last night. Josh Warrington got the all clear from routine scans overnight but has suffered a fractured jaw, perforated eardrum and a shoulder injury. There is a rematch clause but he will take some time to make decision on next movehttps: //t.co/ViqLIdx17A

Biggest surprises in English boxing
The same English narrators of the fight, which was broadcast exclusively by DAZNThey said it was one of the biggest surprises in the history of the English ring.
Lara, just 22 years old and with a record of 22-2 (15 KO’s), had only fought once outside of Mexico and it was in 2019 in Argentina, when he knocked out Eduardo Estela.
Warrington, for his part, was considered the best featherweight in the world and until just January of this year he was division champion for the FIB, but decided to leave the belt for not wanting to carry out the mandatory combat for the body before Kid Galahad.
There is a rematch clause, so we may see them fight again in the future.
