Djokovic, with less discomfort, got away from Zverev

The Serbian Novak Djokovic was more relieved of his abdominal pain and defeated the German Alexander Zverev 6-7 (6), 6-2, 6-4 and 7-6 (6), at the Australian Open to meet in the semifinals at Russian and revelation player of the tournament Aslan Karatsev.

World No. 1 reached the semi-finals at Melbourne Park for the ninth time and equaled the Australian John Bromwich in third position in a classification led by the Swiss Roger Federer who has 15 appearances in that instance.

Whenever he has reached the semifinals of the Australian Open, Djokovic has ended up winning the tournament.

“I need time to warm up being in these conditions. I was very lucky to get that ‘break’ in the third and from there I have improved a lot ”, he commented after the conclusion of a meeting that lasted more than three and a half hours.

It will be the first time that he will face a Karatsev who continued without waking up from the dream he is going through by becoming the first player to reach a semifinal in his debut in ‘major’ competition.

“I had never seen him play before. Very strong physically, he moves very well. He has a great setback ”, he warned about the potential of his next rival.
