(EFE) – Liverpool won this Tuesday 2-0 away from Leipzig, with goals from Mo Salah and Sadio Mané, and set foot in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, since the German team would need a 0-3 to make the comeback at Anfield Road.
The game was defined in five minutes, between 53 and 58, when Liverpool’s two goals arrived.
The first from a blunder by Marcel Sabitzer who, when trying to make a pass backwards, put the ball in the career of Salah, who reached the area and was able to define at will.
The second goal came on a counterattack in which Mukiele missed trying to intercept a long ball in the center line and Mané had a clear path to goal.
Until Salah’s goal the game had been relatively even, although with a slight superiority from Liverpool, with arrivals for both teams.
Leipzig had the first arrival, with a header from Dani Olmo, a cross from Angeliño from the left, which crashed into the post.
It was Leipzig’s first attack after Liverpool had had an advantage in the opening minutes in terms of ball possession, although without producing arrivals.
As the minutes passed, however, a certain superiority from Liverpool began to be noticed, also in terms of arrivals.
The first clear chance was for Mohamed Salah in the 14th minute, after a long pass from Alexander-Arnold left him alone in the area against goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi, who prevailed in the heads-up against the Egyptian striker.
In the 24th minute, a header from Sadio Mané to Roberto Firmino’s center from the right went over the top and in the 32nd Robertson tried a Vaseline from about 40 meters after Gulacsi left the area to cut off a counterattack.
The first time in the second half was for Leipzig when a pass from Dani Olmo left Christopher Nkunku alone against Alisson Becker who reacted with a good save.
Then came the two goals from Liverpool with which the game was liquidated, and perhaps also the tie.
