Argentine midfielder Ignacio Martín ‘Nacho’ Fernández has left the ranks of River Plate to reinforce Atlético Mineiro for the next three seasons Brazilian, reported this Saturday the entity of Belo Horizonte.
“Argentine crack in the area: Nacho Fernández is Galo!”, celebrated Atlético Mineiro in a statement.
Fernández signed a contract until December 2023, added the Albinegro club.
The value of the negotiations would amount to six million dollars, according to the sports press.
Fernández, 31, had been a member of the Argentine River Plate since 2016, where he won various titles, including the Copa Libertadores de América in 2018, the Recopa Sudamericana, in 2016 and 2019, the Argentine Super Cup (2018) and the Argentine Football Cup ( 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2018-19).
“With passage through the Argentine team, Nacho reinforces Atlético’s project of becoming a benchmark in football on the continent, inside and outside the four lines”, said his new club.
Fernández was revealed by Gimnasia La Plata and will have to debut with the shirt of the Belo Horizonte team, led by his compatriot Jorge Sampaoli, in March, due to the international transfer window.
After the official announcement, the club sent the fans an audio in which Nacho Fernández himself asked to tell the news “to everyone.”
“Hello everyone. I want to tell you that there is one more Galo in my vein. I have already separated my shirt and you can tell everyone that Nacho arrived”, says the footballer in the message.
During his time at the Argentine River, Fernández was the author of 31 goals in 185 games.
The versatile midfielder is the third reinforcement confirmed by Atlético Mineiro for this season and will join the club alongside attacking Hulk and left-back Dodo.
