A double by Argentine Lautaro Martínez and a goal by Belgian Romelu Lukaku gave Inter a resounding 3-0 victory this Sunday in the Milanese derby against Milan and allowed them to secure their first position in Serie A, with four points ahead of the milanista painting.
Lautaro, who has already accumulated fifteen goals this season, among all competitions, and an irrepressible Lukaku sank Milan and launched the attack by Antonio Conte’s men on the “Scudetto”, the league title.
Inter has a four-point advantage over Milan and at this time up to eleven points over Juventus, nine consecutive champions of Italy, who have two games less.
Andrea Pirlo’s team will play this Monday against Crotone and must also play the match of the third day against Naples. The Juventine team is against the ropes, forced to fight without margin of error until the end of the season.
Inter turned the derby down after just five minutes, when Lautaro opened his great afternoon with a perfect header to the center from Lukaku. It was the award for an authoritarian start from the Interista team, which pressed with intensity and completely annulled Milan’s midfield.
Only a great save by Gianluigi Donnarumma from Croatian Ivan Perisic’s shot and an unsuccessful Lukaku, although ready to avenge those mistakes in the second half, prevented Inter from going to the break with a more important advantage.
Milan, barely getting close to the rival’s goal in the first half, took to the field at the restart with enormous motivation, but were met with a monumental performance by Slovenian goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.
Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic tried with two powerful headers and Sandro Tonali with a shot with his left leg from the edge of the area, but Handanovic was decisively opposed and opened the way for Inter’s sentence.
In minute 57, the Danish Christian Eriksen combined with Perisic and this offered Lautaro a low pass that the Argentine finished for 2-0. He signed his double and already has thirteen goals this league season.
Milan lost confidence and definitively capitulated ten minutes later, when Lukaku, with a spectacular personal action culminated with a left-footed shot that came through the first post, scored 3-0 and certified the interista dominance in the Milanese derby.
Milan played with more pride than tactical ideas in the final minutes. Pioli’s men were also conditioned by Thursday’s Europa League game against Red Star, while Inter had a full week off.
