The Pumas 7's beat Kenya and were consecrated in the Madrid Seven

Started on Spain the Madrid Rugby 7s International Tournament and Los Pumas 7’s got off to a great start with a 40-12 victory over the local team. In the second game of the day, they achieved a tighter victory over the United States 24-17. Sunday started in the best way for the Argentine national team that defeated 47-5 to Portugal. Then, they beat 21-7 Kenya in what was an early finale. Then, in the defining match, the team led by Gómez Cora again defeated the Africans 21-14 and ended the competition undefeated.

The tournament is played in two rounds: the first, on February 20 and 21, and the second, on February 27 and 28 of the same month. Twelve of the best teams in the world, six for women and six for men, compete in each of them, so that each weekend there will be a winner.



The Gómez Cora team knew how to fight the match and win the trophy. Lucio Cinti and another double by Rodrigo Etchart gave the Albiceleste team all three tries that celebrated the first Seven of 2021.

ARGENTINA 21-7 KENYA (fourth game)
The team led by Santiago Gómez Cora finished the regular phase undefeated after defeating the African cast. With two tries by Matías Osadczuk and one by Rodrigo Etchart, the Albiceleste team finished that stage undefeated. For the Kenyans, Otieno had equalized.

ARGENTINA 47-5 PORTUGAL (third game)
In the third match in the competition, Los Pumas were far superior to the Europeans. With tries by Franco Sábato, Rodrigo Etchart (x2) Lautaro Bazán Vélez, Lucio Cinti, Ignacio Mendy and Joaquín de la Vega, the team led by Santiago Gómez Cora secured a place in the final of the tournament. Despite having to play a previous duel with Kenya, in an early final, the Albiceleste team secured a place for the definition.


ARGENTINA 40-12 SPAIN (first match)
In the first match, Los Pumas played at a high level and made a difference from the start, with a four-try advantage that gave them air to close the match. The figure was Joaquín de la Vega, author of 3 tries, followed by Franco Sábato who scored twice, and Marcos Moneta completed the count with a conquest. ARGENTINA 24-17 UNITED STATES (second game)
