PARIS – The return of Paris Saint Germain forward Neymar is planned as indicated, the coach said on Friday Mauricio Pochettino. The forward was ruled out of all activity with the club for four weeks, in early February, due to an injury to the adductor muscle.
The Brazilian international has been inactive since limping off the pitch on February 10 in a French Cup match against Caen, which sidelined him from the Champions League round of 16 first leg against Barcelona.
Individual training was back on Thursday, raising hopes of an early comeback.
“He has been following the protocol of the medical and performance area,” Pochettino said at a press conference ahead of PSG’s trip to Dijon.
“Today he was on the court to train individually. He has a good mentality. We are happy. Everything is under control in terms of time. It is on schedule.”
PSG, who host Barcelona on March 10 in the second leg after achieving a resounding 4-1 victory at Camp Nou, need to rebound first in Ligue 1 after falling to third place with a 2-1 loss. 0 at home to Monaco last weekend.
Although Dijon is at the end of the table, PSG faces a difficult task, as it will not have Neymar, Ángel Di María, Leandro Paredes, Alessandro Florenzi, Marco Verratti and Mauro Icardi, all injured.
PSG follows the leader Lille, by four points, and the Olympique Lyonnais, second classified, by one.
