Cristian Garin (22nd) arrive at Buenos Aires ATP after having played only one game in Delray Beach, a tournament in which he was eliminated by Christian Harrison.
The Chilean, who could not face the Australian Open due to an injury to his left wrist and having little activity last year due to a back injury, hopes to return to compete in the best way at the Argentina Open. “I haven’t played in two months and it’s always important to have a constant rhythm of competition and I just don’t have much expectation. I just want to start competing, I want to try to feel competitive again “ stated the player.
He also expressed what expectations he has for the contest: “The truth is that all I want is to feel in the rhythm of competition. These last few months have not been easy for me, but I have been training and getting physical. I think about trying to play, compete and see what happens. I’m quite realistic, I haven’t played in a long time. I want to feel good on a court again, run, and give 100% of myself“.
Finally he spoke about the young Argentine promises on the circuit. “I was training with Thiago (Tirante) this week, the truth is that he is a tremendous player, he has tremendous potential. He has a good team behind him. In tennis we all know that Argentines have people who work very well, very seriously and that they always have players with a lot of potential.“and expressed his opinion about the title achieved in Córdoba by Juan Manuel Cerúndolo.”I didn’t see much of the Córdoba tournament but to be champion at 19 is a tremendous achievement, I think Argentina always has players on the circuit and high-level coaches and I think Argentine tennis will always be there“.
