(EFE) – Manchester City achieved its 21st consecutive victory, the 16th in the Premier League, with a 4-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, despite reaching the last ten minutes with a 1-1 scoreline.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men made City suffer in the second half, but in the absence of ten minutes Gabriel Jesús made the match uneven and achieved the 21st consecutive victory for Pep Guardiola’s men.
The ‘Sky Blues’ had been ahead in the first half thanks to a great deep pass from Rodri, over the entire Wolves defense, who found Riyad Mahrez. The Algerian won the baseline and put a strong pass and before which Leo Dendoncker could not do anything other than put it in his own goal when trying to clear.
The control of City, which swelled to pass in the Wolves field, was total, and the Lobos did not shoot at goal once in the first half.
The story changed in the second, especially as a result of the Wolves tying goal, forged by a header from Connor Coady in a lateral free kick. Adama Traoré led several dangerous counterattacks in which he did not know how to define to tighten the nuts of City.
But 20 minutes from the end and with 1-1 on the scoreboard, City accelerated, began to close the goal of Rui Patricio, even crashing into the post with a shot from outside the area by Raheem Sterling, and achieved the goal of the victory when Gabriel Jesús solved a loose ball in the area.
Already in the injury time, Wolves made a mess in the balance of the ball, gave the ball to City and Mahrez defined by making it 3-1, and Gabriel Jesús finished the task with a double before the referee pitched the final.
With this triumph, City adds 28 games without losing in all competitions, a competition record, and increases its advantage with Manchester United to 15 points, although the Red Devils have yet to play this week against Crystal Palace.
