(EFE) – A brace by Chilean Alexis Sánchez, who extended his streak after scoring Genoa last day, gave Inter the victory at the Parma stadium by 2-1 to settle on the leadership of the Italian League, the Serie A, with six points of advantage over Milan.
Antonio Conte’s men took advantage of the puncture of their greatest rival for the title, which did not go beyond the draw against Udinese (1-1) this day. A victory against the penultimate of Serie A could open an important distance to get closer to a trophy that has eluded Inter since 2010. And they did not fail.
Without a doubt, the protagonist was Alexis Sánchez, who lives a sweet moment after an unsuccessful season in front of the goal. If last week against Genoa he recovered his scoring nose after 14 games without scoring, a few days later he again showed that he is in good shape.
He had to wait until the second half to celebrate a goal again. Before, in the first 45 minutes of the clash, both Inter and Parma signed a match with few occasions. Only the Belgian Romelu Lukaku, with a header to the post, and the Slovenian Jasmin Kurtic, with a blow that was stopped by goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, broke the monotony of a very tactical clash.
Then, in the first quarter of the second act, Alexis Sánchez appeared to take advantage of a rebound from a Parma defender and connect a bitten shot that entered with uncertainty inside the goal defended by Luigi Sepe. The ball, after touching the goalkeeper, crossed the entire line by centimeters and Inter celebrated the first goal.
Shortly after, in a counterattack conducted to perfection by Lukaku, he finished off the task after an assist from the Belgian in a heads-up against Sepe. It was 0-2, at 62 minutes, and everything seemed sentenced in favor of Conte’s team.
The Italian coach already offered his point of view before the crash on the new sensations he feels with his forward. “I start to see flashes of old Alexis again and the credit is all his, because he has continued training. He has had a lot of patience, but now he is definitely in his best moment.”
Alexis responded to his compliments with more goals. But they were not enough to tame the crash, because Parma, needing points to get out of relegation and with nothing to lose, advanced their lines and harassed Inter until they got their prize. It was taken by Brazilian Hernani Azevedo, who took advantage of an assist from the left wing by Giuseppe Pezzela to reduce the gap.
For just over twenty minutes, uncertainty took hold of Inter, who managed to withstand all the onslaught of a rival who died on the shore of surprise with dignity. Conte’s team endured the result and lengthened the distance with Milan to make Alexis’ double good, inspired to make his team more leader.
