The end of the wait seems very close: Roger Federer did his last training session before traveling to Doha, where he will compete in the ATP 250 that will mark the end of 13 months without a circuit.
The Swiss played his last official match in the 2020 Australian Open semi-finals against Novak Djokovic on January 31. He then played the exhibition with Nadal in South Africa and injuries to his knee took him away from the circuit.
Federer was close to returning at the 2021 Australian Open but the strict quarantine he had to go through took a little longer to wait to see him on the circuit again.
“Last training before traveling. I feel good and ready to go,” he posted on Twitter. On Instagram Stories he posted a photo with his bag and the caption: “It’s been a while since I had to pack.”
