Defender Matías Rodríguez, in his last step at the University of Chile, signed with Defense and Justice until December 2021.
Sebastián Beccacece, who directed it at the U in 2016, described it as follows: “Matias Rodriguez is a winger with great offensive ability, with good passing game, with good goal statistics. I have had the opportunity to train him 2 times throughout my career. He comes hungry and wants to contribute to a very nice group that we have. It will fit very well with the values of the club”.
The club clarified that the new incorporation will only play international competitions during the first semester.
Born on April 14, 1986 in the province of San Luis, Rodríguez performed inferiors in Boca Juniors, played the 2005-2006 season in Juventud Antoniana de Salta and then made his entire career abroad: Aucas from Ecuador (11 games, 2 goals), Linz from Austria, Nacional from Uruguay (49 games, 3 goals, 2008-09 Uruguay Championship Champion), Universidad de Chile, Sampdoria from Italy and Gremio from Brazil.
At the University of Chile he played more than 340 games, scoring 57 goals, being the defender with the most goals in the club’s history. In Chile, with the U, he won 4 local tournaments, 2 Chilean Cup, 1 Chilean Super Cup, as well as the 2011 South American Cup.
