Argentine international Angel di María, 33, renewed his contract for one season, until 2022, with the possibility of extending it for another year, his club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) reported on Friday.
“We are pleased to announce the extension of Angel di María’s contract for one season with an optional one. At 33 years of age, the international attacker for Argentina will be linked to the capital club until June 30, 2022”, PSG pointed out on social media.
El Fideo, born in Rosario on February 14, 1988, is one of the pillars of the Parisian club, where he landed in 2015 from Manchester United.
At PSG he has played 248 games so far, with 87 goals and 104 assists. He has also won four French League championships and three French Cups.
However, he has not yet achieved the great goal for which he signed for the Parisians, winning the Champions League, of which he was a finalist in 2020.
Di María came to European football from Club Atlético Rosario Central in 2007, when he signed for Portuguese Benfica. There he spent three seasons before making the leap to Real Madrid, where he spent four years crowned with a Champions League (2014).
Real Madrid then transferred him for 75 million euros to Manchester United, where he had a discreet step. In 2015, PSG disbursed 63 million euros for its services.
With the Argentine National Team, he has played 104 international matches and scored 20 goals. His main achievement was the world runner-up in 2014.
