Hurricanes had his first smile in the current season of Super Rugby Aotearoa. At the start of date 5 he beat Highlanders as a visitor. The date was completed in the early hours of Saturday, with a huge victory of Chiefs on Blues which allows Crusaders to remain a comfortable leader, without having played on this date.
CHIEFS 15-12 BLUES (Saturday)
On the last play of the game, Chiefs turned it over to the Blues, outscoring it 15-12 in a highly even game. On the court, Damian McKenzie converted the last try seconds from the end that made the fans in Hamilton delirious, and also converted a decisive penalty before the end of the first half. The other try for the winners was Samisoni Taukei’aho, while for Blues they converted Akira Ioane and Tom Robinson. In this way, they achieved their second victory in the Aotearoa and consecutively, after a year without having won a single game.
HIGHLANDERS 19-30 HURRICANES (Friday)
With Jordie Barrett as the undisputed figure on the field, Hurricanes beat Highlanders 30-19 on the fifth round of Super Rugby in New Zealand. The fullback got all the points for his team as a result of three converted tries and three penalties. On the Dunedin side, they converted Bryn Evans, Connor Garden-Bachop and Thomas Umaga-Jensen. Thanks to this meeting, Hurricanes got their first win in the tournament as they came from losing to Blues, Crusaders and Chiefs.
